Turtle Wax: Zip Wax T75A, Scratch Remover (100 ml), and Graphene Car Wax - Which Should You Use?

The short version of my mistakes

I'm the person who maintains our shop's ordering checklist. Eight years of commercial auto-supply orders, and a log of 23 significant mistakes totaling roughly $14,000 in wasted budget. The Turtle Wax Zip Wax Car Wash T75A shows up on every commercial wash supply list I've ever seen. It's a concentrated wash-and-wax product designed for high-volume facilities where you're moving vehicles through quickly and want to leave some protection behind.

Graphene's strength happens at a molecular scale - a liquid wax film doesn't inherit that tensile strength. No wax is going to turn a customer's hood into a bulletproof shield.

What graphene wax actually does well:

  • Hydrophobic performance: water beads tightly and sheds fast.
  • Slickness: the surface feels noticeably smoother after application.
  • Durability: many graphene waxes outlast traditional carnauba wax, especially in polymer or SiO2 hybrid formulas.

To be fair, graphene wax is not marketing vapor. It's a legitimate category with real performance. The trouble starts when marketing says "graphene = strongest material = strongest paint protection." That's where the claim leaps ahead of reality.

Per FTC advertising guidelines (ftc.gov), performance and environmental claims have to be substantiated. So when a graphene wax claims "9H hardness" or "12-month durability," ask for the test protocol behind that number. It's a fair question, and it filters out the exaggerated options quickly.

How do you choose between graphene wax, ceramic coating, and traditional carnauba? I went back and forth on this for two weeks for our own service menu. Ceramic offered the best longevity and justified a higher price point. Graphene wax was faster to apply, easier to train staff on, and still delivered excellent beading. We ended up stocking both: graphene wax as the standard service, ceramic coatings when a customer specifically wanted maximum durability. The "best" choice depends on your service model, not on which product claims the biggest number.

The towel mistake: microfiber towels are not all the same
